Planning Information
Clothes/equipment for A Taste of Nepal

for a printable version..click here

Here is a list of recommended things to bring along for the Taste of Nepal trip. Expect daytime temperatures in the 20s (celcius) and night time temperatures of down to 10-12c…in the Kathmandu Valley. You don’t need to go out and buy a whole lot of new stuff as chances are you have most of this in your cupboard. (our weight limit for domestic flights is 20kg)
• day hikers or lightweight hiking boots (whatever you are comfortable in but
should have a good tread and sole stability) – wear these on the plane over.
• light nightime shoes (sandals with socks are fine but something to walk
around in at night)
• comfy day pack to carry camera/water/jacket/snacks and personal first aid
kit for day hikes
• hiking pole (will be handy!)
• sandals
• cotton socks (4)
• one pair of warm socks for at night or in bed.
• underwear (4 or 5)
• swimwear.
• sun hat
• fleece jacket for in the evenings. Alternatively a warm fleece shirt and
sleevless insulated vest works well.
• rain and windproof outer shell
• umbrella (good idea, but cooler than a jacket at lower elevations)
• T shirts (3/4) (preferably “quick dry”)
• Trekking pants – zip offs (2 or 3) or capri length pants
• Skirt (optional but sometimes nice and cool)
• long-sleeved shirts (one mid-weight and one cool light coloured shirt for
Chitwan)
• Perhaps a casual but nice outfit for going out to dinner in (although not
bringing this is a good excuse to buy something new)
• warm hat
• bandana for the dust (2)
Toiletries (if you forget some of these things can be bought in
Kathmandu)
• high-factor sunscreen
• torch
• sun glasses
• panty shields ( saves on toilet paper)
• lip balm
• baby wipes (for cleaning sweaty faces)
• antiseptic hand gel
• moisturizer
• toothpaste
• toothbrush
• nail clipper
• mirror
• mobile washing line
• cotton swabs (good for cleaning ears, wounds and cameras)
• feminine products
• other personal essentials (deodorant, shampoo, etc.)
• spare eyeglasses or contact lenses if you wear them
• ear plugs
• toilet paper—can be bought in Kathmandu (if you are not going native)
• small personal first aid kit.
